Godrano is situated at the top of a ridge overlooking the valley of the Frattina River, on the southern slope of Rocca Busambra. The area of Godrano belongs to the Ficuzza Wood Nature Reserve, the “Sicanian Mountains, Rocca Busambra and FicuzzaWood” Nature Zone under Special Protection and the “Rocca Busambra and Rocche di Rao” Nature Reserve because of its position in a natural environment of great value and beauty.
The most important historic evidence of its past is the Church of the Immaculate Conception dating from 1791. It contains a statue of the Immaculate Conception in polychrome wood dating from the end of the 18th century, included in the circuit of figurative arts of the Museum Network of the Alto Belice Corleonese.
Just outside the town you can visit the ”Godranopoli” museum of tactile knowledge with its collection of ethno-anthropological art and objects, such as the plough, basket, cobbler’s and builder’s tools, that give you a glimpse of the life of country folk and shepherds in these lands. Modern and contemporary works of art such as the paintings of Picasso and Braque are also on display.
Godrano is renowned for the particular quality of its Sicilian whole cow’s milk cheese, produced using traditional instruments and processes, and exported throughout the world. Another product much appreciated is donkey salami.
