Tower of San Nicolò all’Alberghiera

Since medieval times, one of the most beautiful views of Palermo can be enjoyed from the tower of San Nicolò all’Albergheria. Built in the 13th century, the tower has four levels: from the first level, access can be gained into the rectory of the church of San Nicolò (St. Nicholas), from where a stone staircase leads to the second level. From the second floor, square shaped liked the lower one and featuring a cross vault ceiling, a helical staircase dating back to the middle ages leads up to the roof, from where visitors have a breathtaking view of the city.
