Vucciria Market

Initially a meat market, called the “Bucciria” from the French “boucherie”, the Vucciria is one of the four historical markets of Palermo, located in the quadrilateral between the current Via Roma, Piazza San Domenico, Via Cala and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Ever since the middle ages, its closeness to the port has made it the preferred venue for vendors from all over Italy. Historically, in the Vucciria market, it was possible to find meat, fish, fruit and vegetables as well as numerous artisan workshops. Today Vucciria has taken on a new guise and become a destination for street-food fans.
