Church of San Giovanni dei Lebbrosi
The church of San Giovanni dei Lebbrosi was built in 1071 by Roger I of Sicily. It was only completed in 1150 when a leprosarium was annexed. The building is in Sicilian-Norman style, with a Latin cross layout, a nave and two side aisles. The altar is decorated with a 15th-century crucifix, while on the right are the remains of an Arab building – the castle of Iehia.
The church, which is not always included in tourist itineraries, is worth a visit because of its history and context
