Church of Sant’Agostino
The church of St Augustine dates back to the 13th century and was entrusted to the Augustinian order. The façade was financed by the Sclàfani and Chiaramonte families (on the sides it is possible to admire their coats of arms). The portal is gothic and a prominent feature is the beautiful and important rose window. The side portal dates back to the 15th century and is attributed to Domenico Gagini. The beautiful lunette depicting the Madonna del Soccorso e Angeli (Blessed Virgin of Succour and Angels) was instead made in the 16th century. The interior was restored in the 17th century. The church has a single nave and contains stuccoes by Giacomo Serpotta.
