Church of San Nicolò di Mira
The Church of San Nicolò di Mira is one of the two Mother Churches of Mezzojuso. The 16th-century church, of Greek rite, preserves six late-Byzantine tables of a dismembered iconostasis, the only testimony of Byzantine rite. The building was renovated in baroque style and has a nave surmounted by a barrel vault. Inside are a high altar in polychrome marble dating back to the 18th century, a 17th-century ivory crucifix with ebony cross, a 13th-century Theotokos and numerous wooden statues.
