Palermo Norman Coast, 30 October 2017
The Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District is once again under the spotlight at “IViaggiatori – Swiss International Holiday Exhibition” of Lugano. For an entire weekend the event will be hosted in a “showcase” that offers an exhibition area of 10 thousand square metres with more than 200 stands and more than 30 countries representedThe Holiday Exhibition – now in its 15th edition – transforms the splendid city of Lugano into a focal point for travel lovers and enthusiasts from all of Switzerland and nearby Italy for three days. Thousands of people take part in the event looking for suggestions and ideas on tourist locations and accommodation for their holidays.
In order to increase the flow of visitors to the area the Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District is therefore counting on an international fair to promote this richly varied area of beautiful historic locations, art and scenery, therefore focusing on tourism not only for one destination but also the surrounding area.
This articulated project is based on the development of services for tourists and technical support and assistance for local operators involved in the organisation of four travel experiences to offer – among the many other opportunities – to the guests:
– UNUSUAL CULTURAL TOUR, for people who want to get away from mass tourism;
– CULTURE FOR KIDS, for families with children aged from 6 to 14 years;
– SURPRISING FOOD, for people in search of the unique flavours of Sicilian food and wine;
– ACTIVE TOURISM, for people who like to travel in contact with nature.
The hub of the promotion is the official site of the integrated project of the Tourism District, www.costanormanna.it
Available on the portal there are for example nature trails for those who wish to explore the area on foot, by bicycle or on horseback and who fall in the ACTIVE TOURISM category. A special section will be dedicated to accommodation with a series of suggestions for arrangements ranging from handy flats in the town centre to B&B immersed in nature, suites with old world charm and welcoming modern accommodation. It is also possible to discover the excellent products of local artisans in the Tourism District that embody the art, tradition, ingenuity and passion of local craftsmen.
Information can be obtained at the fair in Lugano at the stand set up to welcome those who are interested or just curious and to host specialist press meetings and tour operators. The Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District therefore wishes to build on the success achieved in the events at Berlin with the ITB, at Rimini with the TTG, and at Rome, with the Religious Tourism Exchange.
On the other hand the land of the District embodies everything that Sicily is famous for and appreciated by tourists such as the sea, coast, historic buildings, natural and environmental resources, architecture, crafts, food and wine. These are all things that make it possible to offer a unique travel experience. A truly emotional journey discovering the similarities and contrasts in Sicily. Palermo, the Italian capital of culture in 2018, is becoming a showcase and representative for the entire territory of the Tourism District, offering travellers not only the usual warm welcome and vast variety of itineraries in the city but also the unique and unmissable opportunity to get better acquainted with a much larger area that extends inland from the coast.
