TRAVELLING FOR REAL
From the coast to the inland areas, the itineraries and wonders that the District holds in store for travellers are infinite. Starting from Palermo, Italian capital of culture for 2018 and showcase of the tourism offer, touching on Bagheria, celebrated in the film Tornatore in Baarìa, and Monreale, refuge of Norman kings and location of a majestic cathedral. Then there is Baucina, Bolognetta, Campofelice di Fitalia, Campofiorito, Casteldaccia, Castronovo di Sicilia, Ciminna, Ficarazzi, Godrano, Mezzojuso, Roccamena, Roccapalumba, Santa Flavia, Ventimiglia di Sicilia, Vicari, all places with towers, villas, paths and picturesque scenes that recall the history and tales of a remote but incredibly alive period.

The Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District is in the spotlight again at the World Travel Market, the most important international fair in the sector, which will draw thousands of people to London from 6 to 8 November. It is hoped that the 2017 edition will beat last year’s record of 51 thousand visitors and business volume of 2.5 billion pounds. At the London showcase the District will have its own area in the Sicily Region stand.

From 12 to 14 October the event will be hosted in a showcase in the main marketplace for B2B tourism in Italy, now approaching its 54th edition. More than fifty students of the “Paolo Borsellino” IPSSAR (hotel and catering state school) of Palermo will shortly be the new ambassadors of the integrated promotion project of the Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District. The young students will take part in a specific educational activity where they will receive information to be distributed from the desks located strategically in some hotels and tourist accommodation to travelling tourists stopping off at Palermo and other towns participating in the project.

On Saturday 30 September, on the occasion of the Sherbeth, the international festival of craft ice-cream, the Palermo Norman Coast Tourism District will set up an area dedicated to the points of excellence of the crafts and products in the area, open from 12 am to 8 pm. The scheme will involve producers who will display the culinary delicacies of the District, in addition to ceramics, jewellery, knitwear and crochet work plus articles made of wood, plastic and other recycled materials

On Friday 14 July Piazza Verdi will become a great village displaying the points of excellence of the area such as ceramics, jewellery, knitwear, crochet, articles made of recycled wood, plastic and other materials made exclusively by hand by local artisans. The event, which starts at 6.00 pm, is the first offer organised by the “Palermo Norman Coast” Tourism District to promote the best products of the area and to encourage tourism.
